I had the fortune to meet Dr Frankland in our Scietific basis of allegy module of M.Sc. in allergy course at the Impeial College about 8 years ago in an evening with canape and drink. Dr Frankland talked about the evolution and development of allergy as a science and an art over last 100 years. He probably just had celebtrated his 100th birthday and delivered his talk standing tall and straight. It was like a state of trance to listen to him and he held our attention with an extraordinary skill of story telling blended with with scientific evidence and historical facts and high quality humour. He answered all the questions we asked with extraordinary kindnedss and care no matter how small or insignificant they were. That evening dwelled in my memory since then and stil it is ..... I am so fortunate to have an opportunity to be a participant in that meeting. Your life, work and persona will contionue to inspire the physicians of all fields including allergy and immunology for generations - I salute you, Sir!
